SBS was created by Caregivers for Caregivers.
With our combined 27 years of hands-on, frontline and administrative experience, we can offer what it takes to get the job done!
Presently we provide services for female/male/transgendered children (including newborns and mothers), teens and young adults. These individuals’ needs range from cognitive/developmental challenges, physical disabilities, mental health issues, aggressive behaviour, self-harm/suicide ideation, involvement with the justice system, addictions and recovery plans. We provide an All-Nations experience with culturally appropriate programs and traditions.
We understand the cycle of social economic determents that plague families and continue to increase the amount of children coming into CFS care. We know that many of these situations are preventable and this is where our motivations situate. We are passionate about our work with people and focus on being successful in any support situation we are involved in.
Relationships first
Services Beyond Support employs individuals who possess the skills and personality required to work with youth and adults.
Our team maintains a relationship based, individualized approach with all the people we support, and we aim to provide them opportunities which can give them their best future life. Our goal maintains long term support in order to foster relationships with them, their families, and the community.
Collaboration is Key
We will work with agencies or other sources of clients to facilitate appropriate work placements and individual matches. Quality of client/worker relationships is a high priority; long lasting respite placements benefit both the support worker and the clients.
The Perfect Fit
Upon choosing Services Beyond Support, a meeting will be set up with our support worker, the client and the client’s social worker, foster parent or care worker. The main purpose will be to discuss the client’s challenges, preferences, motivational and emotional responses, as well as expectations, safety plans, etc.
Staffing solutions
SBS also provides staffing services to Non-profit organizations, since 2018. We deliver high volumes of support workers around the clock (within very short notice!) to private homes and agency- run residences, in Winnipeg and surrounding rural centers. We have met many Covid challenges with our clients. We have extensive experience with scheduling and pay roll and we can work within allocated budgets. Also very importantly, we communicate with agencies to meet the needs of their clients.
Transportation
SBS also provides a variety of transportation services. In the month of May, we provided consistent transportation to school and daycare for over 20 families. When transporting families, we have focused on trying to be sensitive as we know it can be hard sending children off with a stranger. We also focus on driver safety, including car seat education. Other reasons for transportation have been getting to medical appointments, switching residences, escaping trauma situations, and out of town transport. SBS has also provided cleaning and moving services.
SERVICES BEYOND SUPPORT WORKERS
All Services Beyond Support workers are specifically trained to assist a large demographic of all levels of care and needs.
Often our job requires initiative, flexibility and skills to handle new challenging scenarios! The demographics and needs of our children demand that our staff have training, skills and experience to handle these situations. We de-escalate and coordinate physical and crisis situations in a safe and efficient manner, always, in order to provide a safe and healthy living environment. Our staff are required to administer medications and report and document daily. We communicate on a continuous basis with our staff, 24/7, in real time.
